It is with profound sadness that we learned of the passing of Professor Lyes Khoukhi on August 16, 2026.
Lyes had recently joined CNAM as a Full Professor in Cybersecurity, after a long and accomplished academic career, notably at ENSICAEN and UTT, France. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Technology of Troyes, where his research focused on optimization and performance evaluation of large-scale communication systems.
Throughout his career, Lyes developed internationally recognized research activities at the intersection of computer networks, optimization and cybersecurity. His work covered, among other topics, network security, intrusion detection, secure and resilient wireless networks, IoT security, and trust and security in vehicular and distributed systems. He coordinated and contributed to numerous national and European research projects, supervised many Ph.D. students, and established strong collaborations with academic and industrial partners.
Beyond his scientific achievements, we will remember Lyes above all as an exceptionally kind, warm and approachable colleague. His humility, generosity, positive attitude and genuine attention to others made interactions with him particularly pleasant. Even during his all-too-short time with us at CNAM, his human qualities were immediately apparent and deeply appreciated by his colleagues.
His passing is a great loss to our team and to the wider research community. We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends, students and colleagues.
We will remember Lyes not only for the researcher and professor he was, but also for the remarkably kind person he was.
